Beschreibung zur Veranstaltung:
Ben Sims is one of techno’s most exciting talents – a DJ who has stayed true to the genre’s funk, groove and electronic fused origins whilst continuing to embrace and nurture its development over the past 25 odd years. He played a huge part in defining British dance music in the 90s and continues to be an ardent champion of new music, producers and DJs via his many nights, record labels, radio shows, podcasts and relentless touring endeavours. Embraced by techno’s originators and Detroit ambassadors he’s been, uniquely for a UK artist, called upon by Jeff Mills, Robert Hood and Kevin Saunderson for remixes as well as contributing to the majority of influential European labels. Most recently, his disco/house leanings have birthed Ron Bacardi, an alias which has quickly established itself and resulted in a few solid 12”s. The 5 year old club night Machine, together with Kirk Degiorgio, was set up to only showcase new music and his label activities, currently taking in Symbolism and Hardgroove, continue to provide rock solid platforms for new producers whilst also showcasing his own studio experiments. Never resting on his laurels, Ben Sims continues to challenge himself at every turn. A UK techno legend, Kirk Degiorgio recorded his first release on B12 Records in 1992 and shortly after founded the ART label (Applied Rythmic Technology). He has gained a solid reputation as a seriously heavyweight producer with a unique, individual sound, beautifully combining elements of jazz, soul, techno and funk into electronic tracks. Known under various monikers, Kirk Degiorgio is one of the most sought-after mixers/producers/DJ’s in today’s eclectic dance music scene. By steering away from musical clichés, he has managed to maintain his musical integrity over decades and several classic albums. Guest and truly prolific artist Mark Broom has a myriad of production credits to his name having worked with a lengthy list of world renowned labels. No stranger to the Tresor decks, we are excited for his return to our home. Among recent collaborations finds him with James Ruskin, Mark Broom has also had the pleasure of reworking material from artists such as Dubfire, Edit Select, F.U.S.E, Dj 3000 and Alan Fitzpatrick. In the +4Bar: Matt Karmil produces and plays a particular form of playful and moody dance music for some of the world’s finest record labels and dance floors. In 2014 he released “—-”, a much-lauded debut album that combines dusty samples and elegant tape hiss with immersing grooves and a minimalist aesthetic. A second album followed in 2015. Bristol, UK-based Laurie Osborne aka Appleblim returns to the decks: he co-ran Skull Disco (with Sam Shackleton) and is a resident DJ at London’s legendary dubstep night FWD>> (at Plastic People and other venues). In 2008 Appleblim started a new label named Apple Pips, furthering his sounds of post-dubstep. Patrick Conway runs Black Orpheus label and also has released tracks on numerous labels including Forbidden Planet and Rekids. He is inspired by transcendental meditation, UK Rave, Sheffield bleep/Warp records, Carl Craig circa the early 90s, Silent Servant, Shabba Ranks and joss sticks smoking out the studio…!
