Beschreibung zur Veranstaltung:
Tonight’s showcase is the 10th anniversary of Fabio Della Torre’s maverick label Bosconi Records. To date, Bosconi has released over seventy records, in 2013 they had the distinction of being awarded Resident Advisor’s ‘Label of the Month’ and Fabio is certainly no stranger in our home. Where do you start with A Guy Called Gerald? A hidden gem, the gateway between Chicago house / Detroit Techno and the UK dance music explosion in the late 80s. He is one of a few special producers who entered dance music in the jacking zone. He is the first UK acid house producer and probably the first producer to have two instrumental dance tracks in the UK charts at the same. A legend from Manchester’s Hacienda, A Guy Called Gerald formed 808 State with a drum machine, a 303, 2 Roland SH101s and 2 other humans. His collaborations stem from Frankie Knuckles, Goldie, Finley Quaye and Derrick May through to Herbie Hancock, remixed for David Bowie, Lamb, Stone Roses, Black Uhuru, Can, Tricky, Roman Fluegel and The Orb and toured with New Order, Tricky and Bebel Gilberto. His accomplishments would take pages to cover – it is simply better to witness him on the decks personally. We welcome a giant of the genre in our home tonight!! Lee Renacre is 100hz, originally a trio formed in 1989, whose sound developed into the funkier side of House and Techno with twinges of sinister vocals and odd beat patterns, they were regarded as the pioneers of the new musical style that was to create an entirely new genre of dance music. Records were released through Lee’s own label called Format records and the group performed in many underground venues and festivals such as Sonar. 100hz is currently working on abstract new material and remixing some of their deeper older tracks with new music programs. A new wave of music started Feb 2017 with the launch of Lee Renacre’s new record label called Modugroove. Fabio Della Torre aka Corcos is an Italian DJ/producer from Florence as well as the founder of Bosconi Records. A leading figure in Italy’s electronic music scene, Della Torre is the brains behind Bosconi, one of his country’s most esteemed house music imprints. Alongside Ennio Colaci, Della Torre also produces as one half of production duo, Minimono, themselves veritable purveyors of discerning electronic music. As likely to spin deep house as he is minimal techno or more up-tempo funk numbers, Fabio Della Torre’s passion and unpredictable nature is a hallmark of his extensive DJ style. Rufus is to date one of the most forward-thinking and innovative DJs to emerge from the Italian electronic music scene. His restless research into both old school and the freshest forms of dance music have inspired many Italian artists gravitating around the Bosconi Records circuit and the Florence scene. Rufus’s DJ sets focus on open-minded positive music, funky vibes, downbeat, garage-house deep and jackin house. The Tresor Floor also features a legend of dance culture: SLAM (aka Stuart McMillan & Orde Meikle) instigated Glasgow’s underground House music scene in the late 1980s, going on to be instrumental in the explosion of the UK Techno scene, and their exploits have seen them travel, leaving scorch marks on dance-floors far and wide while taking their uncompromising musical vision around the world. Their monthly clubs in Glasgow, ‘Maximum Pressure’ and ‘Return To Mono’, are ranked amongst the best nights out on the planet, while their Riverside Festival, now in its 7th year is the biggest underground electronic music event in Scotland. 2019 will be a big one in Slam’s career. With their Soma label now beyond 600 releases on it’s epic journey, Slam remain firmly committed to the future of the Techno scene in the global arena and in their home city. It’s been awhile since we’ve welcomed the duo in our home so don’t miss this opportunity. Pär Grindvik has been a central figure in the Swedish electronic scene since the 90s as record store owner, label manager and producer. In his artistic career Pär has released music across a plethora of acclaimed electronic labels, including a string of hits on his own Stockholm LTD imprint (founded in 2002) as well as Drumcode, with frequent collaborator Hardcell. Over the past two decades Pär’s involvement with the electronic music community has branched out across the globe. Openly passionate about supporting underground talent, Pär works closely with an ever-expanding repertoire of labels and artists, cementing his worldwide popularity as a performer stems not only from his skill and versatility but also as a result of the energy he puts into every performance. Our excellent basement resident Mareena is a perfect match to support this top Tresor program.
