Beschreibung zur Veranstaltung:
We welcome back a night showcasing the legendary label Sonic Groove. The history of Adam X dates back to 1990 in New York City, where he teamed up with his brother Frankie Bones in running the first all-techno record shop in America ‘Groove Records (later named Sonic Groove Records)’ with DJ Heather Heart joining ownership shortly after. Throughout the 90s and into the first half of the millennium, the Sonic Groove retail outlet was one of the top techno record retailers for DJs & vinyl collectors across the world. Now one of the longest techno labels running, Sonic Groove refuses to push the sounds of the past, instead preferring to define the sound of the future. Known in contemporary times globally for his pioneering working in crossing the parallel of techno and industrial music, Adam X is also behind the production of the well known deep sci-fi techno project “Traversable Wormhole” on CLR. Debuting in our home last year for a new faces night, Crystal Geometry is the latest project from underground electronic music veteran, Maxime F. Sabre. Inspired by Post-Punk, Black Metal and Industrial, the French producer and live artist has returned to his roots, a crossover between the warehouse rave scene of the 90’s and industrial music, mixing EBM influences with hardcore Techno. Centered around an ever-growing modular system, the project is based upon live improvisation with dedicated hardware, relentless hard beats and haunting soundscapes. Recognition of the Crystal Geometry‘s output has continued to penetrate the underground circuit, with a growing catalogue of high-impact productions, released across a number of international underground labels, including Sonic Groove. Mathis Mootz aka The Panacea is a prolific German electronic musician and DJ. Under the name Panacea, he released a string of dark drum and bass singles 1996, followed by the LPs Low Profile Darkness in 1997 and Twisted Designz in 1998. Working and collaborating tirelessly throughout the 90s and 00s, releasing on top labels such as Milles Plateaux, Ant-Zen and more. In 2005, Mootz revived the Force Inc. label, changing his name to The Panacea. He has since returned to somewhat darker sounds, releasing a number of singles on Position Chrome, as well as UK labels Outbreak and Offkey Records, the latter run by UK producer Raiden and specializing in Techno-DNB. As one of the hinges of the 90’s rave generation, Italian DJ and Sonic Groove artist Max Durante’s sound and his presence have been fundamental for the early Italian Techno scene. Well respected as a DJ, thanks to his great mixing abilities, as well as a producer for his precious creativity in his recording productions, Max Durante is a true innovator of dark, industrial techno. In Globus: Luis Garban is Cardopusher, a Venezuelan-born, Barcelona based DJ/producer and co-founder of the Classicworks record label who has spent the last decade creating a wide variety of noisy dancefloor assaults. Having released on numerous other labels, Cardopusher has also forged a relationship with German bass enthusiast Boys Noize, issuing a pair of EPs as well as two full length albums. Liverpool-based Mark Forshaw‘s productions have featured on many diverse and distinguished labels and he also records under the alias Casio Royale, which is an outlet for his basement jack tracks. Aside from Mark’s solo production work, he is also a member of Phantom Planet Outlaws, a live techno group formed with fellow Liverpool based friends Binny and John Heckle. Mark Forshaw is also a skilled and knowledgeable DJ and has been involved in Liverpool’s music scene since the late 90’s. He was resident DJ at two of the city’s most notable techno club nights, T-Funkshun and Voodoo. More recently he has played at Jerome Hill’s DON’T party and Bangface. Romanian artist Alexa Chirnoagă aka Aleksa Alaska began recording and uploading mixes two years ago and one year later opened for Veronica Vasicka at a queer party in Bucharest. Her thoroughly refined sound is elegant yet austere, delicate yet dark, draining yet satisfying. The Bucharest-based DJ has been gaining recognition for her abilities with regular shows on NTS and Rinse FM, as well as a schedule of upcoming gigs around Europe.
