2009 is undoubtedly the year for luna city express. for a long time now berlin-based norman weber and marco resmann have been bringing a breath of fresh air to the international house scene with their well-respected eps and memorable dj gigs. their trademark is honest house music, yet always done with a sly wink.
this year sees the arrival of their very first album and »rough neck« gives us our very first taste. the track grabs and holds you with its continuous tension, always at the point of bursting, where percussive rhythms, short chords, a funk bassline and random vocal samples all pull in the listener.
on remix duty we have brothers? vibe, the new hero of house, now finally getting the deserved success for his music. here he intensifies »rough neck« into a pushing deep house track with an unmistakable us influence, while at the same time running with and keeping up the tension of the original.
to complete the e.p moon harbour boss matthias tanzmann re-interprets »rough neck« by emphasizing the percussive character of the track. garnishing it with extra sounds the piece gets a completely new drive without letting the original out of sight.
